Packing List

Eek!  I'm leaving tomorrow night for Washington DC!  It's really hard to travel east without losing so much time due to the time change so I opted to take a red eye Thursday night that would get me into DC on Friday morning.  While I'm looking forward to being there early on Friday so I can get settled, leaving a day earlier is definitely taking a toll on me now.  I know that my brain has been a little frazzled lately so I decided to make a packing list of everything I would need to pack up tonight before leaving tomorrow.  I know that having equipment for all three sports can be a lot but I didn't realize how much I was actually going to need until I wrote it all down.  Here's the monster list that I'm sure will have stuff added to it as I pack tonight:

Pre-Race:
Directions – bibs!
Cell phone – plastic baggie for transition area
Cash / license
Clothes over gear – long sleeve shirt – also wear after event
Flip flops
Oatmeal / Tea – eat at hotel

Swim:
Bathing suit bottoms
Triathlon top
Extra bathing suit (one piece)
Wetsuit
Swim cap
Goggles (and extra pair)
Watch
Timing chip – get on Sunday morning

Transition:
Towel to lay everything down
Sham towel (post swim)
Trash bag for wet clothes
Bag for extra stuff (hair brush, Extra elastic / hair pins, sunscreen, chap stick, ib prufen, toilet paper, paper towels/tissues, tape for gels, granola bar, black marker, band aids)
Race number – have pins

Bike:
Bike (with number on Saturday)
Bike lock
In under seat container - extra bike tubes / tools / Patch kit / Bike Pump / CO2 tank (mom)
Sneakers
Socks
Bike shorts
Knee brace
Compression sleeve
Gloves
Helmet
Sunglasses
Water bottles (2 – one water, one Gatorade)
Goo / Gel – taped to bar

T2:
Extra socks (if necessary)

Run:
Fanny pack w. water bottle, goo, ib prufen, chap stick, tissues

It will definitely be interesting to see what actually gets used on race day since I'm sure I have way more than I need!  Better safe than sorry!  As one of my college professors always said, prior planning prevents piss poor performance!
